We are living in an era when scientific and technological capability is the very source of national competitiveness.
Science and technology, as an engine for economic grows, drives the changes and developements in all the spheres of our society - political,economic, social and cultural,suggesting that the roles of science and technology have become crucially important in national developments.
The increasing importance of science and technology calls upon KOFST, an organization of scientific and technological societies in various disciplines, to assume increased responsibilities for the advancement of our society.
KOFST will double its efforts to foster and support scientific and technological societies, who are the key actors in knowledge creation and diffusion, and also to expand the participation of scientists and engineers in social developments.
No less important role of KOFST is to link science and technology to the general public. We place a priority on promoting public understanding of science and technology so as to attain public support for science and technology.
Above all, KOFST will continue on playing its role as a spokesperson for the community of five million scientists and engineers in Korea, so that their voices are more clearly heard, respected and reflected in the policy-making processes.
